ELSMERE, Del. (WPVI) -- A Delaware fire company had to rescue a cat from a storm drain in Elsmere.

The mission began around 7:30 a.m. Friday on the 1400 block of Montgomery Road.

The cat somehow escaped from its home and made its way into a nearby storm drain and became trapped.

The owner ran in her pajamas to the fire house for help and the crews responded.

When fire crews arrived, they lifted the grate off the drain to pull the kitten to safety.
