Princess the dog, 2 cats looking for forever homes

HOLMESBURG (WPVI) -- Princess the dog and two cats are looking for forever homes after being rescued from a property overrun with 13 pub-like dogs and four cats living in poor conditions in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia.

Pennsylvania SPCA officers executed an arrest warrant March 19 at Irene Johnson's home, following a tip from the Philadelphia Police Department. The animals were taken to the PSPCA headquarters located on Erie Avenue to receive care.

Johnson, of the 7900 block of Marsden Street, has pleaded guilty to one count of unsanitary conditions.

She has been sentenced to pay a $50 fine to the Commonwealth, more than $4,000 in restitution to the PSPCA for care of the animals since they were seized, 90 days prohibition of animal ownership with the exception of the three animals remaining in the property and to provide the PSPCA's Humane Law Enforcement with full inspection rights of the property.

Ten of the 13 dogs and all four cats rescued were signed over to the PSPCA. Three of the dogs were returned to Johnson after being altered, and the home's living conditions were deemed suitable.

Princess and two cats are at the PSPCA awaiting adoption.
