MEDIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- Josh Aponte and his family fostered Ashlyn through the Delco SPCA in 2011. His girlfriend, Jen Weaver played a critical part in making this a forever match.

"My mom wasn't ready to adopt another dog yet, so that's where Jen came in," said Josh.

Jen added, "I came home from school one weekend, and met her and played with her for a couple of hours the first time, and I fell in love with her. I was like I have to."

Four years later Ashlyn and her forever family are inseparable.

"She does everything with us, sleeps in the bed with us and jumps up on the couches cuddles," said Jen.

"The whole house is her playground," said Josh.

"I just think cause lots of times when you go through things in life you don't realize that something is as simple as a dog can make you feel so much better and give you something to smile at," stated Jen.

Ashlyn is only one of the 3000 animals the Delco SPCA adopts out a year.
