SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- With just days to go before Christmas, the holiday travel rush was well underway Friday.

By trains, planes and automobiles, travelers were heading out to their holiday destinations.

Action News found long lines at Philadelphia International Airport from dawn until dusk.

But AAA estimates 90 percent of those of us who will travel in this region will travel by car.

That's a whopping 1.1 million people on four wheels this holiday period.

Seven percent will go by air, and Friday was expected to be one of the busiest days for the airlines.

Smaller numbers of us go by bus and by train.

With Christmas not until Monday, some of the Friday train travelers Action News caught up with at Amtrak's 30th Street Station expected to be back home Friday night, followed by a day trip up north later during the holiday break.
