Suspect sought in attempted lurings in Philadelphia; photos show vehicles used

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police have released surveillance pictures of two vehicles in connection with two attempted lurings.

According to police, the suspect has already successfully lured two young boys in Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion section, and indecently sexually assaulted them.

Now they say he's back at it again, and this in the neighborhoods of Germantown and East Mount Airy.

"It's really sick, it's mentally sick, you know, he's got a problem," Philadelphia Police Captain Mark Burgmann said.

Police say in East Mount Airy the predator tried to lure a 16-year-old boy into his car at a bus stop in the 6600 block of Stenton Avenue on Monday evening around 5 p.m.

"He asked him if he wanted to make some money by either performing a sex act or the offender performing one on him," Captain Burgmann said.

And Thursday night about four or five blocks away at Stenton and Haines in Germantown, he did it again. He approached another 16-year-old male waiting for a bus. In both instances he showed them pornographic video on his cell phone, but the young man ignored him and got away.

David Brown of Germantown said, "Why would he try to do something with a 16-year-old kid, its crazy out here and that's why people are carrying weapons and stuff."

"I'm shocked! Whoever did that is stupid obviously," Dan Smith of Germantown said.

Police believe it's the same man, a light complected black male in his 20s with a mustache and possibly a beard, who managed to lure two brothers, an 11 and 14-year-old into his car. It happened at a gas station at 3301 Ridge Avenue in Strawberry Mansion.

Police say he lured them separately into his grey or silver car, possibly a Nissan and showed them pornographic videos and indecently sexually assaulted them before they managed to escape.

"And he seems to be getting much more aggressive," Captain Burgmann said.

He was asked if it seemed like the suspect's not gonna stop? "It would seem that way, yeah," added Captain Burgmann.

Police are urging parents to warn their children. Some parents are heeding the advice.

Kiana Oruska of Germantown said, "Make sure you watch your children, you know, stranger-danger even at teenagers, always important to tell your children not to speak to strangers or course."
