3 masked men rob couple in Olney

OLNEY (WPVI) -- A local business owner was robbed at gunpoint during a home invasion in the Olney section of Philadelphia.

It happened on the 100 block of West Godfrey Avenue in the Olney section of Philadelphia around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Business owner Khorn Sao had just arrived home from his West Philadelphia restaurant. He double parked his car, brought his wife inside, then three men all with guns pushed him inside and robbed him.

Khorn's son, Michael Sao, says, "He came to the door, he left his bag here with my mom and also put the gun on the table. So, that's when he left the house again, and then the assailants came in, pushed him, took his bag and his gun."

Both Sao and his wife, who are in their 60s, were coming home from a hard day's work. They yelled for help and their son Michael came running down the stairs.

Michael says there was a fourth person who appeared to be working as a lookout.

"They obviously knew my parent's schedule," Michael said.

They made off with Khorn Sao's back pack holding $3,000 and his Beretta hand gun.

The Saos have never had this happen before, but just over a month ago city council heard testimony from police and Asian business owners who have become frequent targets of armed robberies.

Last year 16 percent of the city's home invasions were committed against Asian households due to the belief business owners carry large sums of cash.

Luckily, the Saos were not seriously hurt, except for a hand injury.

A surveillance camera captured the faces of at least two of the suspects.

"We're not sure if it was someone from around that area where the business is, or maybe they told their friends and they started following them," Michael said.

The armed men were last seen getting into a white sedan near where the home invasion took place.
