PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The School District of Philadelphia has announced that John B. Kelly Elementary School in the city's Germantown section will be closed Thursday to due to issues with mold.

A statement from the district said due to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) issues, traces of mold were found in several classrooms.

The district reported that an environmental remediation contractor began working to remove the problem at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

While students will have the day off, Kelly staff will report to the Hill-Freedman World Academy located at 1100 Mt. Pleasant Street.

The district said it will provide an additional update at noon for parents, staff and the school community.
