CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania State Police have charged a boy for organizing dozens of bicyclists to take over the Vine Street Expressway last weekend.

Police say around 2 p.m. Sunday a large group of bicyclists, estimated to be in the hundreds, rode their bikes onto I-676 near 8th Street.

The local vintage store Jinxed posted video of the scene on Instagram.

Dave Silver posted a similar scene from his vantage point to Twitter, where it went viral.

During the investigation, police were able to identify a young male who they say was responsible for organizing the event.

The boy was taken into custody around 9 a.m. Thursday.

He faces misdemeanor and summary charges.

No injuries were reported.
