The Philadelphia Phillies have traded right-hander Joaquin Benoit and cash considerations to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right-hander Seth McGarry, Vice President & General Manager Matt Klentak announced Monday.

McGarry, 23, appeared in 31 games for single-A Bradenton this season and posted a 1.34 ERA and 0.84 WHIP while holding opponents to a .146 average.

McGarry was selected by Pittsburgh in the eighth round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Florida Atlantic University.

Benoit, signed by the Phillies as a free agent this past offseason, appeared in 44 games and posted a 4.07 ERA. Pittsburgh will mark the eighth team Benoit has pitched for in his 16 seasons in the majors.
