According to police, the school bus was traveling eastbound on Harbison Avenue and was waiting to make a left onto Tackawanna Street. That's when a black Toyota Camry traveling westbound on Harbison Avenue at a high rate of speed, tried to make a quick left onto Benner Street, but struck the school bus.

The 28-year-old driver of the Camry sustained head injuries and a dislocated hip, and was hospitalized in critical condition.

There were six to eight children on the school bus who sustained minor injuries. One child, an 8-year-old girl, complained of head pain and was transported to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children.

A second school bus was brought in to take the other students away.
