NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A driver was caught in the crossfire of a shootout in North Philadelphia - the second incident in less than a week.

It happened Wednesday night at 20th Street and Cecil B. Moore, near a daycare that was open at the time.

Police tell us it was a four-versus-four scenario between young males.

An officer on duty happen to pull up when three men pulled out guns and started shooting at each other.

A bullet struck the victim's car, and was found lodged in the back seat. Luckily, the driver was uninjured.

Action News spoke with the man, who declined to show his face on camera.

"My first instinct was to duck, and I got out of the way until police came," he told us.

The father of two says he was driving home from work. He says he knows his children could have been in the back seat.

"What if they were in the car with me? Clearly it went into the back of my car. We could be talking about another situation right now," he said.

Aaron Taylor, who works at the hair salon right on the corner, told us there were eight or nine gunshots. "It was wild," he said.

To make matters worse, a local daycare is located inside the scene of the shooting, and we're told it was open at the time of the incident.

No injuries were reported inside the facility.

"A lot of kids be around here so it's pretty crazy the gunshots were going off like that," said Taylor.

The officer was able to catch one of the shooters and take him into custody.

Another shooter dropped their gun and left it right on the street.

At this point, there's no word of anyone being shot, but the driver of the car caught between it all says he knows he easily could have been killed.

"Guys like me are trying to drive home from work. I like working down here. I love serving the community," he said.

At the time of this report, two gunman remain on the loose.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
