Pa. state troopers hurt after police chase ends in crash on Route 422

SKIPPACK, Pa. (WPVI) -- Two Pennsylvania state troopers are hospitalized and an armed robbery suspect in custody after a high speed chase through two counties ended in a crash.

It started at 1:45 a.m. Monday, when Pennsylvania State Police were called in to assist Reading Police in the pursuit of a stolen car.

The suspect led pursuing officers onto 422 East. Stop sticks were deployed, which helped slow down the suspect's vehicle.

Route 422 East was closed between the Limerick and Oaks exits, and additional troopers positioned their vehicles in front of the suspect's vehicle in an attempt to induce him to stop.

Police say it ended when the suspect then rammed the state troopers' vehicles on 422 near Mingo Road in Royersford.

Images from the Action Cam broadcast on Action News at 5:00 a.m. showed the suspect's car with heavy front-end damage.

The tires appeared to have been stripped from the wheels.

Two troopers were taken to Phoenixville Hospital to be treated for injuries said to be minor.

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Daniel Arroyo Vasquez, was taken into custody.

He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault.
