Police confiscate weapons at barricade in Kensington
Police confiscate weapons at barricade in Kensington. Walter Perez reports during Action News at 6 p.m. on August 20, 2017.

Police were on the scene of a barricade situation in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood.

The incident began at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday when police saw a male wanted for aggravated assault.

When officers tried to stop the male, he fled into a home on the 3300 block of Hartville Street.

Officers knocked on the door of the home and another male answered and allowed police inside.

Once inside, police found a possible hand grenade along with several assault rifles at the top steps to the basement.

Since the male was still believed to be inside the basement, and because of a bad "tactical position," a barricade was declared.

The SWAT team was called to the scene and entered the home, but did not find the suspect inside.

Weapons and ordnance inside the home have been secured by police.
