ROXBOROUGH (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are seeking out a suspect they who say robbed his former neighbors.

Investigators say Mark McLaughlin broke into a home on the 7300 block of Hill Road in the Roxborough section on Wednesday morning.

McLaughlin allegedly tied up a 75-year-old man and assaulted him.

Police say the suspect then stole car keys of the victim's 74-year-old sister, who was asleep in a bedroom.

The victim was admitted to the intensive care unit at Temple University Hospital.

McLaughlin remains on the run.

People living in the area tell Action News McLaughlin is well known in the community and has had a troubled past with drugs and other family problems.

Many are hoping police can track him down, and are also hoping he gets the help they say he needs.

"It is very sad and I am sorry for the victims because they are about my age and that is tragic to be beat up like that, and injured. But we are very sorry for the perpetrator because we knew him and he is going down the wrong track," said Debbie Gross.

"It is a shame. It sounds to me like drugs. They are invading every part of our lives now and it is just sad because this is quiet neighborhood, a nice neighborhood and the people are nice," said Michael Hermann.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Philadelphia police.
