Delaware County police officer stabbed in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Tinicum Township police officer is hospitalized after being stabbed in South Philadelphia.

It happened around 8:25 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn on the 900 block of Packer Avenue.

The officer was on an escort assignment when the incident occurred.

Initial reports indicate that the officer sustained wounds to his arm.

He was transported by Philadelphia police officers to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Authorities say an arrest has been made.

So far, no details have been released pertaining to what led to the assault.
