Police: Two dead following gun fight in Chester

Police said two men were killed in a gun fight in Chester Wednesday.

According to officials, the men opened fire on each other near the intersection of 9th Street and Highland Avenue shortly before 8 p.m.

Initial reports said one man was in his mid-to-late 40s and another was in his 20s. The elder of the two died at the scene, the younger man was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where he later died.

These deaths mark the 25th and 26th homicides of the year in Chester, which ties the total tally for last year.

No word yet on a motive.
