Pregnant woman hit by teens racing on Broad Street
Surveillance cameras caught two teens who police say were racing each other on Broad Street early Monday morning.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say an SUV rear-ended another vehicle and then struck a pregnant woman sitting on a wall in north Philadelphia, killing her baby and leaving her in extremely critical condition.

According to investigators, the SUV and another vehicle were heading north on Broad Street at high speed just before 5 a.m. Monday when the SUV struck the rear of the other vehicle, which then hit a tree.

The SUV then jumped the curb and struck the 27-year-old woman, who was sitting on a low concrete wall.

Family members identified the victim as Gina Campbell Seldon, who was seven months pregnant. The family told Action News she lost her unborn child.

Seldon was rushed to Temple University Hospital where she was in critical condition.

Police say 19-year-old Yaaseen Bivins, who hit Seldon, did not have a license. Both drivers were taken into custody and their vehicles were impounded.

Surveillance cameras caught two teens who police say were racing each other on Broad street early Monday morning.

"We're mad she lost her child and now she's fighting to pull through herself with three other kids of her own," said Seldon's brother, Adonis.

Seldon works at the McDonald's nearby and was apparently on break when she was hit.

Her family is now trying to make sense of the behavior and is desperate for her to pull through.

They hope this is a wake-up call to the drivers behind the wheel.

"Please make better decisions because it can affect others. You never know who is in harm's way."

Bivines was charged with 3rd-degree murder of an unborn child, aggravated assault, DUI, reckless driving, racing on a highway and other related charges.

He was being held on a $1 million bond.
