Philadelphia's newest day spa, Primp and Play, offers a relaxing and unique experience the whole family can enjoy!

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Parents know that pampering themselves often takes a backseat, especially when you are busy with the kids.

But now, a brand new spa has opened in Center City where you don't need a babysitter to spend some time relaxing.

Philadelphia's newest day spa, Primp and Play, offers a relaxing and unique experience the whole family can enjoy.

"You can come in and spend quality time with your child and do a service with them. Or if you want some relaxation and peaceful time on your own, we have art classes going on at all times where they can go in the back and get creative while you relax and then everyone leaves relaxed and happy," said owner, Tara Murphy.

Murphy, a mother of two, opened the kid-friendly spa after struggling to find time to pamper herself.

"Cause moms are really good at multitasking but sometimes we don't take time for ourselves," she said.

The spa offers a variety of different services for both adults AND children including manicures, pedicures, facials and massages.

"We have a lot of people who come in without children as well just to experience the services, so its great if you have a kid, its great if you don't," said Murphy.

They also host birthday parties and private events.

"You can do a spa party for your child or we actually have a lot of people that come in for bridal parties and bachelorette to do a ladies night," said Murphy.

They also offer separate art classes for both children and adults.

"Yes we have walk-in classes at all times, so you can come in and do an art class anytime," said Murphy.

The salon's retail section features handmade items created by local moms.

"It's amazing how many people you know just picked up a hobby once they had kids and it's become a real business," said Murphy.

Primp and Play is located on 10th street between Spruce and Locust Streets - right in the heart of a very bustling and expanding Midtown Village.
