UNIVERSITY CITY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police have identified the man charged with throwing railroad spikes and rocks at moving cars from an overpass in University City.
18-year-old Blake Bowers of West Montgomery Avenue in Philadelphia has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and other offenses.
Police say officers responded to the 600 block of University Avenue at 8:20 p.m. Friday.
Four passing vehicles had been hit by railroad spikes and rocks tossed from a railroad overpass.
The spikes and rocks shattered the windshields of at least two of the cars.
In one case, a spike got stuck in the dashboard, narrowly missing the driver's head.
That driver suffered some minor scrapes and cuts to his eyes and face.
University of Pennsylvania Police eventually caught up with the suspect and he was turned over to Philadelphia Police late Friday night.
