When Pope Francis steps into the city of Philadelphia for the first time, he'll be stepping onto a rug handmade right here in our area.

Langhorne Carpet Company has made the runner for the airport and two rugs to be used in the rectory of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

That runner is red with a gold border and is 9 x 75 feet long.

The rugs for the rectory are green with a medallion design.

Company officials say the face of the rugs are 100-percent wool to keep in line with the pope's commitment to environmental protection.
