WARMINSTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- A Warminster police officer is being lauded for what the department is calling 'heroic and lifesaving' efforts after he intervened while a passing motorist was having a seizure on Tuesday.

The driver of the truck was taking his brother to a doctor's appointment when he suddenly became the one who needed medical attention.

Officer Ryan Bunda with Warminster Township Police said he was in the right place at the right time. He saw the passenger of the car waving his hands out the window of the truck for help.

"The driver had both of his arms in the air, his wrists were bent downward," said Bunda.

He followed the truck down County Line Road, which Bunda said was going about 5 m.p.h. Bund said he parked his car on County Line Road and then ran up to the truck in motion.

"I used my left hand to push down the brake pedal, it came to a complete stop," said Bunda.

In the oncoming traffic lane, a Huntingdon Valley firefighter just happened to be driving by. The firefighter ran out of his car and helped the officer by putting the truck in park, and taking the keys out of the ignition.

The two carried the man out of the truck where he was then rushed to a local hospital.

Residents in the area said Bunda is a hero.

"So much bad could have happened, thank God that police officer was there," said Christina Churchwell, from Warminster.

Bunda's police chief said there's no training for a situation like this.

"His ability to act, and act heroically, and think fast goes a tremendous long way," said Jim Donnelly, chief of Warminster Township police.

However Bunda said he's not a hero, he was just doing his job.

"Another day on the job, and luckily I was in the right place at the right time," said Bunda.

There's been an outpouring of thanks from the community for Bunda, who has yet to meet the brothers since the incident, but said he's glad no one was hurt.
