Eastbound lanes reopen after truck overturns on Schuylkill Expressway

A crash on the Schuylkill Expressway involving an overturned flatbed truck has shut down eastbound lanes, causing major delays.

GRAYS FERRY (WPVI) -- Eastbound lanes have reopened on the Schuylkill Expressway after a truck crashed and overturned, causing major traffic delays.



The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday between University City and 26th Street in the city's Grays Ferry section.



Police said the 65-year-old male driver was hauling the flatbed trailer when the vehicle flipped on its side.



A pickup truck then hit the wreckage.



The driver was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center after being trapped in the wreckage for about 10 minutes. His condition is unknown.



A second person was reportedly taken to a local hospital. That person's condition is also unknown.
