A dog turns out to be a perfect fit for the organization that saved his life.

Brave was on death row.

Erica Brown, President, Diamonds in the Ruff Rescue says, "We found him at a high kill shelter. He had a really bad skin infection that most people don't want to even touch him."

Diamonds in the Ruff rescued him, but it took more than nine months to heal him.

"We finally found a medicine from Canada to fix all of his issues," says Erica.

And once he was healthy, it took no time to find his forever home.

Toni and Zac Benigni adopted Brave in May, 2015.

Toni says, "For me it was instant love when I first saw him."

"We've renamed him to Bruno. He's a little chunky but we like him that way. He's just a great dog," said Zac.

Bruno is one of the more than 250 Diamonds that have been rescued from a Ruff Life.

"We save dogs that are underprivileged, medically challenged, just dogs that are not easily adoptable," said Erica.

Once saved they are forever part of the Diamond collection.

Erica adds, "It's like a big family between our adopters, our fosters and our volunteers. We stay in touch with everybody."
