Man shot in back during attempted robbery in Olney

OLNEY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are on the hunt for 2 gunmen who shot a man during an robbery attempt in the city's Olney section.

It happened at 5:30 p.m. Saturday night on the 5500 block of North 2nd Street.

Police say the 26 year-old victim was on the corner of North 2nd Street and Olney Avenue when he noticed two men pointing handguns in his direction.

Fearing he would be robbed, the victim took off running.

That's when one suspect fired two shots, hitting the man in his upper back.

The victim then ran to a local bar at 2nd Street and Clarkson Street and called police.

He was transported to Albert Einsetin Medical Center in stable condition.

Police describe the first suspect as a black male, 21 years-old, 6'3" tall with light facial hair and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The second suspect is described as a black male, 21 years-old, 5'11" tall with light facial hair. He was wearing a blue coat with a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath.
