What's the Deal: Gift wrapping hacks from AC Moore

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- The Christmas countdown clock is ticking down, so today we're tackling wrapping!

From gifts of every shape and size, to keeping the cost - and the waste - down, we have some pretty clever hacks from the craftologists at AC Moore in Center City.

Whether you're short on bags or high on wrapping paper, for awkward and odd shaped gifts, save yourself a trip to the store and create one from scratch with double sided tape and a few folds You can leave it open and stuff with wrapping paper or...

"You can gather the top and poke two holes and put a candy cane in it," suggests craftologist Jess Castaldi.

Speaking of candy, wrapping awkard-shaped gifts can prove difficult, but Jess has a trick up her sleeve.

"Turn them into pieces of candy, because who doesn't like getting candy on Christmas?" she said.

FIrst, wrap the gift in colorful tissue or wrapping paper, then cover it with clear cellophane.

"And next we are going to gather the ends and tie with a piece of curling ribbon," said Jess.

Do you have extra tissue paper or tulle? Make your own bows! Just stack it up and fold it up.

"And then you cut a decorative shape around the edge to give it roundness," said Jess.

Punch a hole, thread the ribbon through and fan it out.

"It's a personal touch and you didn't waste anything," said Jess.

And to make sure your Christmas morning pictures are Instagram perfect?

"If you wrap one of your shipping boxes from online shopping in wrapping paper so in the morning you don't have a black trash bag in all of your photos you throw all of your trash in a wrapped present," said Jess.

And for a tidy workshop, get a dowel rod or even a paper towel holder and stack your ribbon there.
