Celebrating 1000 lives saved

RITTENHOUSE SQUARE (WPVI) -- Jefferson University hospital marked its 1 thousandth liver transplant with a reunion of the recipients, including number 1 thousand, Denise Benckert-Frank.

In 1984, Jefferson became the first area hospital to perform a liver transplant.

Thursday, a rising number of those operations are being done with living donors.
