NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It was a common scene today here in North Philadelphia.
The students arrived at Mastery's Frederick Douglass Elementary School wearing their first day best and a smile.
Along with their teachers, police officers from the 22nd district were there to welcome the students back to class.
Jinnely Davidson-Asst Principal worked to ease the transition for the students "the first day of school can have a lot of anxiety and feelings of stress for everyone around for parents, students and teachers, and we really wanted to have members of the community particularly police officers- bridge the gap between officers and the community."
We wish the best of luck to all the students in our region as they head back to school.
