Giving thanks for heroes

LAWRENCE TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Fifteen New Jersey veterans were honored for their service Tuesday.

Brigadier General Michael Cunniff handed out the Distinguished Service Medal at the Quaker Bridge Ball in Lawrence Township.

The medals are New Jersey's highest military honor.

The ceremony is also an outreach effort for veterans to inform them of benefits they are eligible to receive.
