MARLTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- A history lesson came to life Monday when Marlton seventh graders heard a story of survival.

Renee Siegel stood before the DeMasi Middle School students and spoke about her mother Helen Rieder's experience in the Holocaust.

Helen was taken from her home in Czechoslovakia in 1944 and forced into slave labor camps until she was liberated by the Allied Forces in 1945.

Eventually, she immigrated to the US to start a new life.

After her death in 2015, her memory now lives on through her daughter.
