An eclectic group has landed on Time magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people, from CEOs to foreign leaders to astronauts. The man topping that list and smiling from the cover, though, is creating a lot of buzz: Kanye West.

"Every time I crash the Internet, it's like this little drop of truth," the rapper and music mogul said of his influence. "Every time I say something that's extremely truthful out loud, it literally breaks the Internet."

Some on social media, though, disagreed that West deserved to be on the list, saying that the thing he is most known for are his outbursts.

Some, however, argued that he did deserve to make the list.

The magazine will feature five different covers nationwide. Others include Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as well as Univision News TV anchor Jorge Ramos, actor Bradley Cooper and ballet dancer Misty Copeland.

This is the 12th year Time has put together this list. An essay by a prominent public figure is written for each honoree. West's essay was written by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

"Kanye West would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list. The dude doesn't believe in false modesty, and he shouldn't," begins the essay by Musk.

Celebrities and public figures alike took to Twitter to express their feelings toward the recognition, including West's wife Kim Kardashian, who is also on the list.
