SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Devil Dogs stationed across the world and right here in Philadelphia are celebrating 242 years of the United States Marine Corps.

It was back on November 10th, 1775 when the Continental Marines were established by the Second Continental Congress.

The first place where men actually signed up to become Marines was at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia.

On Friday, Cookie's Tavern in South Philadelphia carried on its annual tradition of throwing a party in honor the Marine Corps' birthday.
