Promise neighborhood program

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The community around Drexel University has been chosen to receive millions of dollars in federal grant money.

Mayor Jim Kenney, Philadelphia schools superintendent Doctor William Hite and other local leaders were in West Philadelphia Wednesday to celebrate.

Close to 6 million dollars from the department of education will be used to improve educational opportunities for children.

This is part of the national Promise Neighborhood program.
