Volunteers honored with Red Cross proclamation of appreciation

POWELTON (WPVI) -- Philadelphia leaders are recognizing a special group of volunteers who help people overcome the unexpected.

Mayor Jim Kenney presented the Red Cross House with a proclamation of appreciation.

Judge Renee Cardwell Hughes accepted the honor.

She's the CEO of the Red Cross Eastern Pennsylvania.

In the last 13 years, volunteers have helped more than 43 hundred families get back on their feet after fires and other disasters.
