Some deserving veterans got the chance to pick the perfect wheels, ahead of the Wounded Warrior Project's Soldier Ride

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Some deserving veterans got the chance to pick the perfect wheels Thursday morning, ahead of the Wounded Warrior Project's Soldier Ride.

Each veteran had the opportunity to get fit with adaptive equipment to meet their specific needs at the Renaissance Philadelphia Airport Hotel in Southwest Philadelphia.

On Friday, they'll leave on a 3-day cycling retreat focused on healing, camaraderie and cycling.

The Wounded Warriors project says the ride is meant to help veterans dealing with missing limbs, chronic pain, or invisible war wounds like PTSD.

The ride starts at the NovaCare Complex and continues into New Jersey through the weekend.
