Water main break temporarily shuts off service in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Dozens of customers were temporarily left without water service after a water main break in South Philadelphia.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. Friday in the 2400 block of South Lambert Street.

Officials say a six inch main ruptured causing water to get into some area homes.

No word on the extent of any damage.

The water was shut off as crews worked to repair the broken main.

About 80 customers were left without water for several hours.
