Former Penn State player Adam Gress dies at age 26

Former Penn State offensive lineman Adam Gress has died, the school confirmed Friday.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office reported Gress, 26, was found dead Thursday afternoon at a home in Dormont, Pennsylvania. The medical examiner's office did not immediately release a cause of death.

Gress played for Penn State from 2009 to 2013, starting as a fifth-year senior in 2013. He signed a free-agent contract with the NFL's New York Giants but did not make the team's roster in 2014.

"The Penn State football family would like to offer sincere condolences to the family & friends of letterman Adam Gress," the team said in a statement. "His commitment to this university & this program will never be forgotten."
