Mahlon Duckett, baseball player with Philadelphia Stars, dies at 92

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Action News has learned that Mahlon Duckett has died. He was 92.

Duckett was the last surviving member of the Philadelphia Stars Negro League Baseball team. He was a second basemen.

Family members tell Action News that Duckett died peacefully on Sunday, surrounded by family at a Philadelphia hospital.

First organized in 1933, the Stars went on to win the Negro National League Championship in 1934.

The team disbanded after the 1952 season.
