New England Revolution trade Charlie Davies to Philadelphia Union

TheNew England Revolution have traded forward Charlie Davies to the Philadelphia Union for general allocation money, targeted allocation money, and the Union's natural first-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.

Philadelphia will also get New England's natural third-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft on Aug. 3, 2016, the club said.

"When this was brought to us, we talked directly with Charlie. It was important to do what was right for Charlie and his family. If it wasn't right for them, we wouldn't have considered it," said Revolution general manager Michael Burns.

"It's never easy parting with a player like Charlie, but we are grateful for his contributions to the club and we wish him and his family all the best and consider them a part of the Revolution family."

The New Hampshire nativemade 64 regular season appearances over four seasons with New England, with 41 starts, 14 goals, and eight assists.

"I'm excited for the next chapter in my career and look forward to joining the Union," Davies said.

Philadelphia on Wednesday finalized a move for Nantes midfielder Alejandro Bedoya as it works to solidify a playoff position in the Eastern Conference, where the team is currently in fourth place.
