The beer man did a little more than selling brews at the Phillies game.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The beer man did a little more than selling cold ones at the Phillies game Saturday.

Let's paint the picture:

It was the sixth inning of the game between the Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Phils were leading 5-3.

Carlos Ruiz was up to bat with 2 outs facing the Dodgers' Dan Haren.

It became a count of 2-2 when Ruiz struck a foul ball into the stands along the first-base line.

Fans held their gloves out to catch the ball, but no gloves were needed - only a beer bucket!

That's right, the ball landed right into vendor Earl Chaney's bucket.

Chaney told the Phillies broadcast team he was not looking to catch the ball, it just landed right in the bucket.

Chaney, who has worked at Citizens Bank Park since 2004, says he once was hit by a ball, but never caught one before.

For his efforts, however unintentional they may have been, the Phillies faithful gave Chaney a standing ovation.

PLUS:

It was also Bark at the Park, David Buchanan's debut, and the Phillies won the game!

So there was a lot to cheer about in South Philly Saturday.
