VILLANOVA, Pa. (WPVI) -- When it comes to Villanova coach Jay Wright's suits, more than a few folks have asked: Who is his tailor?

The answer: Gabriele D'Annunzio, or "Gabe" to his friends.

For 50 years, D'Annunzio has operated a shop in Newtown Square called D & B Tailors.

The tailor and coach met about a decade ago. Together they have helped make Wright a basketball fashion phenom.

They would go over samples of buttery-soft cloth. Wright's courtside look not flashy, gimmicky, but understated - the look of a CEO from a time past.

"I think he has the image and the look of somebody in the '30s or '40s, an industrialist," said D'Annunzio. "And industrialists back then defined America."

What Wright gets from D'Annunzio are custom suits that can take 30 to 40 hours to make by a staff that's been doing this for a long time - 40 years and counting.

The cost of a bespoke suit - $3,500 and up. Top of the line with certain fabric could hit $11,000.

When asked if the coach might splurge and order a suit with a $10,000-plus price tag should he win the championship, D'Annunzio smiles and thinks about the coach's wife's reaction.

"That would be nice, but I am not sure he would go for that," said D'Annunzio. "I don't think Patti would tolerate that one. He's got to be careful."
