Suspect in custody after Broad Street fatal hit and run

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police have taken a driver into custody after a pedestrian was killed in North Philadelphia overnight.

Police tell Action News the victim was crossing Glenwood Avenue at Broad Street in the southbound lane around 1 a.m. Saturday when he was run down by a car.

The impact sent the victim several feet from the initial crash scene.

That person was taken to Temple University Hospital, but later died from their injuries.

The driver took off in a dark, burgundy color sedan that was later towed from the 2000 block of North 9th Street.
