PHILADELPHIA -- Tina Baer is the Mastermind behind the term "Swemo," a combination of Swifty and emo.

The term has taken the world by storm, particularly on TikTok, where the hashtag has amassed over 11 million views.

Emo music, a sub-genre of punk rock known for its emotional lyrics, may seem an unlikely match for Taylor Swift's pop anthems and many thought Baer was crazy for thinking the two go hand in hand.

But as a self-proclaimed "Lover of Taylor Swift and emo music", she says the Swemos get it.

"When I put on a Venn diagram of Taylor Swift and emo, sometimes it does become so overwhelming; it's a circle," she says. "It's a lot of emotionally-driven writing."

She took the term 'Swemo' and turned it into The Swemo Experience, a party designed for the people who knew their love of emo music was 'never a phase and listening to Taylor Swift was Nothing New.

Baer has thrown many events for The Swemo Experience, including album release parties, and even one to celebrate the start of Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour".
