Police warn of Malaysia plane crash scams

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- In a disturbing twist to the Malaysia flight 17 tragedy, authorities say scammers have set up fake Facebook profiles using the identities of several of the victims.

The web pages provide a link that claims to show the actual crash, but when someone clicks on it, they are bombarded with pop-up ads.

The scammers make money off of that.

There are also reports that the crash site has been looted and the victims' credit cards were stolen from their luggage.

Authorities are urging the victims' families to freeze their bank accounts.
