A Wisconsin 4th grader says he can't go to school because he's too prone to getting sick.

So instead, he sends his robot.

Grady Loper is battling a rare condition that severely weakens his immune system.

He wants to stay in school, so his parents came up with a unique way to make him feel like he's there by sending a robot on wheels with Grady's face on it.

"He can navigate all around the classroom," said teacher, Gina Fischer.

"I think number one: keeping him healthier and number 2: he's not missing out on the instruction," said district administrator, Mark Lichte.

It works kind of like skype and Grady says he really feels like he's there.

He promises, though, that the robot doesn't do his homework for him.
