FRESNO, Calif. -- Apple experts are warning about a new scheme that tries to trick iPhone owners into handing over user names and passwords.

The scam arrives in the form of a text message claiming your Apple ID is due to expire. The message then directs users to a bogus website to confirm your information.

Identity theft experts said you should never send credit card information, account passwords, or other personal details in an email or text unless you trust the person receiving the information.

They also point out Apple won't ever ask for such information by text message.
