Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that left two people injured.

TIOGA-NICETOWN (WPVI) -- Two people are hospitalized following a shooting outside a bar in Philadelphia's Tioga-Nicetown section.

It happened early Saturday morning at the Triple Play Sports Bar, located on the 1600 block of West Hunting Park Avenue.

Police say it all started just before 12:49 a.m. when five black males became unruly and were kicked out of the bar.

Three of the males walked across the street to a silver Nissan Maxima parked near the corner of Hunting Park and Germantown avenues, police say. The other two males were seen traveling in the opposite direction.

Once at the vehicle, police say, the three males fired shots at employees and patrons standing outside the bar.

Police provide an update on shooting outside Tioga-Nicetown bar.

One of the bullets hit a 31-year-old customer in the ankle. He was taken to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Two male armed security guards, ages 23 and 38, returned fire, police say.

Minutes later, police say a 30-year-old man showed up at Albert Einstein Medical Center with a bullet wound to the stomach.

Philadelphia Police Captain Drew Techner explains, "We believe that male was somehow connected to this incident. We don't know if that male is a suspect or if he was a patron here when this all occurred."

That man was rushed into surgery and is listed in critical condition.

Police say the security guards have permits to carry guns and are cooperating with the investigation.
