NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- One person is dead after a two-car collision in Philadelphia's Bustleton section.

It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday on the 1600 block of Grant Avenue.

Police say the cars were speeding when they collided.

A witness told police the cars were side by side and went airborne, contacted the road and then crashed into each other.

One of the cars burst into flames after slamming into a utility pole.

That car brought down high-tension wires in a strip mall parking lot.

Firefighters had to wait until PECO could shut off the power before putting out the flames.

The body in that vehicle was burned beyond recognition. The vehicle could not be identified because it was so badly burned.

A 30-year-old male, and a 22-year-old female in the other car are recovering at Aria-Torresdale Hospital in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
