NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Police say the operator of a motorcycle was killed after colliding with a car in Newark, Delaware.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Albe Drive.

Initial reports indicate the car was in the process of executing a left hand turn when it was struck by the cycle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the car was taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation, but police are looking into the possibility that the cyclist was driving at an unsafe speed.
