Boy, 8, hit by freight train in Delaware County

TINICUM TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Delaware County officials are on the scene after an 8-year-old boy was hit by a train in Tinicum Township.

The accident was reported just before 6 p.m. Friday on CSX tracks near the Clarion Hotel in the unit block of Industrial Highway.

The view from Chopper 6 showed a number of police and emergency vehicles on the scene.

Authorities say the boy's leg was run over. He was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center initially then transferred to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

There is no immediate word on his condition.
