SCHUYLKILL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WPVI) -- A lengthy construction project in Chester County is finally complete after a serious crash damaged a historic bridge back in July 2015.

Drivers were crossing the Knox Bridge after it reopened at 9 a.m. Friday.

It had been closed since someone, who remains at large, slammed into the historic bridge.

When PennDOT repaired it, Tredyffrin Township launched a $17 million project to shore up a major sewer line.

A few years ago, millions of gallons of raw waste leaked into Valley Creek, so thick heavy plastic was used to relive the 30-inch concrete main which services some 70,000 customers in multiple surrounding townships.
